Albert Bustamante

Albert Garza Bustamante ( born April 8, 1935 in Asherton, Dimmit County, Texas) is an American politician. Between 1985 and 1993 he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Albert Bustamante attended until 1954 Asherton High School. Between 1954 and 1956 he was a parachutist in the service of the U.S. Army. He then continued his education until 1958 continues with a study of art at San Antonio College. He finished his studies in 1961 at the Sul Ross State College in Alpine. He then worked as a teacher. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In the years 1968 to 1971 he was on the staff of Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez. Between 1973 and 1978, Bustamante was sitting in the County Council of Bexar County. Within the district, he was between 1979 and 1985 judges.

In the congressional elections of 1984 Bustamente was the 23rd electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Abraham Kazen on January 3, 1985. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3rd, 1993 four legislative sessions. He was at times a member of the Armed Services Committee.

In 1992, he came into conflict with the law. He was indicted for fraud and other criminal businesses and sentenced to 42 months in prison in 1993. That ended his political career. Today he lives with his wife in San Antonio, where he runs a shopping market.
