Eddie Bernice Johnson

Eddie Bernice Johnson ( born December 3, 1935 in Waco, Texas) is an American politician. Since 1993, it represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Eddie Johnson attended until 1952 AJ Moore High School in Waco. She then studied until 1955 at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, where she was trained for Registered Nurse. Later, she was still a student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Then she worked as a senior psychotherapist at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Dallas. At the same time Johnson began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1972 and 1977 she was a Member of the Texas House of Representatives. From 1977 to 1981 she worked for the U.S. Department of Health; 1986-1972 she was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1992 was Eddie Johnson in the then newly created 30th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they took up their new mandate on January 3, 1993. After nine previously re- election they can remain to this day in Congress. In this time the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. She is a member of the Committee on Science and Technology, the Transportation Committee and five Unterausschüssssen.
