Gene Green

Raymond Eugene "Gene " Green ( born October 17, 1947 in Houston, Texas) is an American politician. Since 1993 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Gene Green studied until 1971 at the University of Houston. After a subsequent law degree from the same university and his 1977 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1973 and 1985 he sat as an MP in the Texas House of Representatives; 1985 to 1993 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1992, Green was in the then newly created 29th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on January 3, 1993. According to previously nine elections he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. In this time the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. Green is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and three subcommittees. Between 2007 and 2009 he was chairman of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.

Gene Green is married and lives privately in Houston.
