Augustus McCloskey

Augustus McCloskey ( born September 23, 1877 in San Antonio, Texas, † July 21, 1950 ) was an American politician. In the years 1929 and 1930, he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Augustus McCloskey attended the common schools and worked in the years 1903 to 1907 as a stenographer. After studying law and his 1907 was admitted to the bar he began in San Antonio to work in this profession. Between 1920 and 1928 he was a judge in Bexar County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In June 1928 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Houston, on the Al Smith was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In the congressional elections of 1928, McCloskey was in the 14th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded Harry M.
