Gückingen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Diez.

Gückingen is located about 3 km west of Limburg an der Lahn, about 4 km north of Diez and about 14 km east of Montabaur directly on the border with Hesse. The territory of the municipality Gückingen belongs to the foothills of the Westerwald.

History

The first written reference is available from the year 1367. In the area of ​​present-day village there was an agricultural estate that at the monastery established on the other side of the Lahn in today's Diez Dierstein belonged. On this farm was operated in the 13th and 14th centuries, mainly agriculture, animal husbandry and viticulture. During the Thirty Years' War led to repeated looting and destruction by Swedish and French troops, of which the settlement for generations did not recover, so that there were in 1720 only ten inhabited houses in Gückingen. Viticulture has been set in the 18th century.
