Henderson County (Illinois)

The Henderson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 7331 inhabitants and a population density of 7.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Oquawka.

Geography

The County is located in western Illinois and has an area of 1023 square kilometers, of which 42 square kilometers are water surface. The western County boundary is also the natural border with Iowa, defined by the Mississippi River. At the Henderson County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Henderson County was formed on January 20, 1841 from parts of Warren County and named after the Henderson County in Kentucky, where most of the former settlers came.
