Beto O'Rourke

Robert Francis " Beto " O'Rourke ( born September 26, 1972 in El Paso, Texas) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Beto O'Rourke attended Mesita Elementary School and the El Paso High School. In the early 1990s he joined as a guitarist and singer in a band. Until 1995 he studied at Columbia University in New York City. He then worked in El Paso in the computer industry in the IT sector. He founded his own company, the Stanton Street Technology Group. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 2005 and 2011 he was a member of the City Council of El Paso.

In the congressional elections of 2012, O'Rourke was in the 16th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeds Silvestre Reyes took on January 3, 2013, he had defeated in the Democratic Primary. In the election in November 2012 it reached 65 percent of the vote. His counterpart candidate was Barbara Carrasco of the Republican Party.

Beto O'Rourke is married and father of three children.
