2013 World Snooker Championship

The Snooker World Cup 2013, which took place from 20 April to 6 May 2013 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, formed the conclusion of the snooker season 2012/13.

Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan was able to successfully defend his title with a 18:12 - Final victory over his compatriot Barry Hawkins. O'Sullivan was for the fifth time world champion.

Round 1

Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, who had almost the entire season, took a break from professional snooker, started with a 10:4 victory over Marcus Campbell. For some co-favorite, however, was already in round one conclusion: With Neil Robertson failed the world champion of 2010 against Robert Milkins, and Mark Allen was beaten Mark King. Also the four -time world champion John Higgins failed to make the last sixteen. The most significant victory in the first round scored Ricky Walden, who against Michael Holt gave only one frame. Second round

In the second round Michael White and Dechawat Poomjaeng clashed, with the Welsh dominated the game clearly and with 13:3 decided for themselves. In the duel of two former world champion Shaun Murphy defeated the Scots Graeme Dott with 13:11. In a new edition of the World Cup finals of 2008 and 2012 Ronnie O'Sullivan and Allister Carter met each other in the second round this time already. The defending champions dominated the game this time and sit by with 13:8. The world number one Mark Selby was eliminated also the favorite of the tournament; the winner of the UK Championship in 2012 and the Masters in 2013 was defeated Barry Hawkins 10:13 and missed the chance to win all three tournaments of the Triple Crown in a single season.

Quarterfinals

In the 7th frame of the 2nd session O'Sullivan played with 103 points his 128th Century break at the Crucible Theatre. He thus broke the pre-existing record of Stephen Hendry with 127 Centuries. O'Sullivan had three Centuries of 106, 133 and 124 points, followed by; so that the new record number is 131 for Barry Hawkins was the first World Cup final and only the second of a ranking tournament. In the following interview, O'Sullivan Hawkins certified extraordinary achievements and stressed no other opponent had been so hard to shake off in the course of the tournament. The question of whether this was his last World Cup finals, O'Sullivan left open.
