History

Schönborn

The name of the noble family of the Counts of Schönborn goes back to the village Schönborn in Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Diez. From a document of 1284 shows that there may have been given " the beautiful Born" in Niederlahngau, a settlement, which included a church. The inhabitants were under the rule of the Counts of Katzenelenbogen. From 1651 Hesse-Darmstadt was sovereign. 1806 the site was assigned to the Duchy of Nassau, which was annexed in 1866 by the Kingdom of Prussia. Bärbach
