Germany national basketball team
The German national basketball team of men is an action taken by the federal trainer selection of German basketball player. It represents the German Basketball Federation ( DBB) at the international level, for example in friendly matches against the national teams of other national associations, but also at European Championships European continental federation ULEB or at the World Championships of the World Federation FIBA as well as in the basketball competitions of the Olympic Games.
The first international match with German participation was part of the Olympic basketball tournament in I. Berlin against Switzerland on 7 August 1936. On 1 August 2010 the German national basketball team played against the Netherlands in Leiden its 900th international match of their history.
The biggest success to date was winning the European Championship in 1993 in their own country. Furthermore, they finished at the 2002 World Cup in the United States and won the third place at the 2005 European Championships in Serbia and Montenegro, the silver medal. The best ever Olympic placement was achieved at the XXV. Summer Games in 1992 in Barcelona with the seventh place.

History
Beginnings ( 1936-1983 )
At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 stood as a basketball for the first time in the Olympic Games program, entered the German national team for the first time at an international tournament, but lost three of their group games, the fourth was won without a fight because Spain did not compete.
