History

After the 2003/04 season in the American Hockey League, the Edmonton Oilers, the Toronto Roadrunners decided to relocate from Toronto to Edmonton. The Road Runners played in the arena of the Oilers. For the North American sport it was to locate its own farm team in the same city an unusual decision, but this decision was taken with regard to the lockout in the National Hockey League during the 2004/ 05 NHL season.

Although the team started well in the season and had an average attendance of 8,854 per game, the AHL was officially on 6 June 2005 asked for permission to withdraw the team from the league. This happened after the negotiations for the resumption of gaming operations in the NHL were significantly advanced for the following season. Although the Oilers still possess the rights to the inactive franchise, but those in charge decided to cooperate with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL to take, instead of invoking the Road Runners again. On February 9, 2010 - nearly five years after the start of inactivity - gave the Edmonton Oilers announced for season 2010/11, their farm team to Oklahoma City want to install.
