1976–77 ice hockey Bundesliga season
The season 1976 /77 Hockey - Bundesliga was the 19th season of the highest German Hockey League. German champion was the Cologne EC, who was thus able to celebrate his first title victory, establishing itself as the third hockey stronghold in the west to Dusseldorf and Krefeld. These two teams also took second and fourth place. From the Bavarian teams, only the EV Landshut reached the Champions round. In the 2nd Bundesliga, the newcomer Augsburger EV dismounted, he was replaced by the EC Deilinghofen.

Mode
The number of league games was significantly increased by a mode change. Following the previously usual double round with 36 games for each team, the field was divided into a master and a relegation round. The first six teams played under him her points in a single round of the German champions, and came thus to each 46 games. The four last-place clubs were against it in the relegation round, the last placed athlete was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. The relegation round was played as a double round taking with the previous round points, so the teams had completed 48 games at the end.
