Howard County (Indiana)

Howard County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Kokomo.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Indiana and has an area of 761 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Miami County, Grant County, Tipton County, Clinton County, Carroll County and Cass County.

History

Howard County was formed on January 15, 1844 from parts of Carroll County, Cass County, Grant County, Hamilton County and Miami County. It was named for Tilghman A. Howard, an American statesman from Indiana.
