Scott County (Indiana)

Scott County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Scottsburg.

Geography

The County is located in southern Indiana, is about 30 km from Kentucky and has an area of 499 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Jennings County, Jefferson County, Clark County, Washington County and Jackson County.

History

Scott County was formed on January 12, 1820 from parts of Clark County, Jefferson County and the Jennings County. It was named after Charles Scott ( governor ), a general in the American Revolutionary War.
