Charles V. Truax

Charles Vilas Truax ( born 1 February 1887 in Sycamore, Wyandot County, Ohio; † August 9, 1935 in Washington DC ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1933 to 1935 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 23th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Charles Vilas Truax was born in Sycamore. There he attended the schools of general education. His high school years were spent at the Sycamore High School. In 1913 he was appointed by Governor A. Victor Donahey to agricultural director of Ohio. He served until 1929. During his time as Agricultural he was the director from 1916 to 1921 editor of the Swine world magazine. In 1928 he was a candidate to become the Democratic Party to Senator for Ohio in the U.S. Senate. However, he lost to Roscoe C. McCulloch. In the capital of Ohio, Columbus, he worked in the insurance business.

As a Democratic candidate, he was elected to the House of Representatives, representing the 23rd District of Ohio in the U.S. congressional elections in 1932. There he took his directorship until his death in 1935. He died in the U.S. capital and was buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery in his hometown.
