Steve Austria

Stephen "Steve" Austria ( born October 12, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party. From 2009 to 2013 he was the first son of Filipino immigrants member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 7th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Austria was the son of Filipino immigrants to Cincinnati. His father had come to study medicine in the United States. Steve Austria joined the Carroll High School in 1977 and then studied at Marquette University. Before he was elected to the House of Representatives from Ohio, he worked as a financial advisor. About seven years he served as a Senator in the Senate of Ohio.

In 2009 he finally settled in as a representative of the 7th Congress District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives, after he had achieved in 2008 58.2 percent of the vote in the election .. He succeeded Dave Hobson, who had not started. In the 2010 election he defended his seat with 62.5 percent of the vote. He was a member of the Committee on Appropriations.

Shortly before the year 2011 announced on Austria, not to stand for election in 2012, because his constituency was divided according to the results of the 2010 census and Austria against Republican Party members would have had to compete to stay in Congress. He retired on January 3, 2013 the Office.

Austria lives with his wife Eileen and three children in Beaver Creek. He is Roman Catholic faith.
