Steve Stivers

Steve Stivers ( born March 24, 1965 in Ripley, Brown County, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party. Since January 3, 2011, he is a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 15th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Steve Stivers was born in Ripley. There he spent his childhood. In 1989 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State University. His Master of Business Administration, he received in 1996 also at Ohio State. After his studies, he worked in various jobs in the private sector.

Since 1985 he has been active in the Ohio National Guard. He is currently with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the reserve active. In 2004 he was appointed to active duty due to the international activities of the United States. He served in the Iraq war. For its use there, he received the Bronze Star.

From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Senate of Ohio. In the congressional elections in 2008, he ran unsuccessfully for the seat of the 15th district, at the 2010 election he won the seat of Mary Jo Kilroy and represents since January 2011, the 15th district of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2012 he was confirmed in office. He is a member there in the United States House Committee on Financial Services.

With his wife Karen and his daughter Sarah he lives in Columbus. He is a Methodist.
