Douglas Applegate

Douglas Applegate ( born March 27, 1928 in Steubenville, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1977 to 1995 he represented the 18th Congressional District of the State of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Biography

Douglas Applegate was born in Steubenville. He attended the public schools and received his high school diploma in 1947 at the Steubenville High School. He then worked as a real estate agent. From 1961 to 1968 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Ohio. Subsequently, he was until 1974 a member of the State Senate.

As the successor of not more candidates Wayne Hays, he was in the congressional elections in 1976 as representative of the 18th district of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. He served a total of nine legislative sessions. One of the midterm elections in 1994, he did not run.

Today he lives withdrawn from politics in his native city.
