Percy W. Griffiths

Percy Wilfred Griffiths ( born March 30, 1893 in Taylor, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, † June 12, 1983 in Clearwater, Florida ) was an American politician.

Griffiths served from 1910 to 1913 and again during the First World War from 1917 to 1919 in the United States Navy. Thereafter he attended until 1921 the Pennsylvania State College and studied at Columbia University in New York City. In 1930 he graduated from there. In 1922, he worked as a car dealer in Marietta, Ohio, and worked as a football coach at several colleges from 1927 to 1936. In the years 1938 and 1939 he held the office of the Mayor of Marietta.

Griffiths was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there, from 3 January 1943 to January 3, 1949 the state of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the elections of 1948, he could not defend his position. Griffiths was now working as a car dealer again and worked in this industry until his retirement in Juni 1961.
