Martin A. Foran

Martin Ambrose Foran ( born November 11, 1844 in Choconut Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, † June 28, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1883 to 1889 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 21th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Martin A. Foran was born in Choconut Township in Pennsylvania. There he attended the public schools and St. Joseph 's College. There he was schooled three years. After his schooling, he completed a two - year stay in Ireland. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1874. He opened a law firm in Cleveland. From 1875 to 1877 he was a prosecutor from Cleveland.

In 1882 he was elected as a candidate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he served as a representative of the 21st District of Ohio until 1889., He went back to Cleveland to take up his work as a lawyer again can. From January 1911 until his death in 1921 in Cleveland, he served as a judge at the Court of common pleas. He was buried at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
