Job E. Stevenson

Job Evans Stevenson ( born February 10, 1832 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio; † July 24, 1922 in Corinth, Kentucky ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. Of 4 March 1869 to 3 March 1873 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 2nd Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Stevenson was born in Union Township. After school he studied law. He was named after his studies, practicing attorney in Chillicothe. He has also worked in agriculture. For the city of Chillicothe, he worked from 1859 to 1862 as a solicitor. From 1863 to 1865 he was a member of the Senate of Ohio. In 1864 he ran for the first time for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1865 he then moved to Cincinnati.

1868 was successful his renewed candidacy for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The second district of Ohio where he represented for two terms. After the end of his political career he moved in again in his ancestral profession. Before his death, Stevenson moved to Corinth, where he died on July 24, 1922 at the age of 90 years. He was buried at the Yellow Bud Cemetery in his hometown.
