George P. Ikirt

George Pierce Ikirt ( born November 3, 1852 Columbiana County, Ohio, † February 12, 1927 in East Liverpool, Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. Of 4 March 1893 to 3 March 1895 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 18th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Ikirt was born in Columbiana County. He attended school in Lisbon. His had an unfinished study of law, he had to cancel due to health problems. After he had overcome this, he studied medicine at Ohio State University. In 1877 he graduated from there. He was then working as a doctor in Ohio and New York City, where he also further formed. In 1888 he ran for the first time for the Democrats as congressman, but in vain.

1892 was his candidacy in the 18th District of Ohio to be successful. However, he served only one legislative period and then dropped out again. He went back to Ohio and settled in East Liverpool as a physician. There Ikirt also died 1927. He was married and the father of six children in total twice.
