Clare County, Michigan
The Clare County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Harrison.
Geography
The County is located just north of the geographical center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of 1490 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. It borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Clare County was formed in 1840 from parts of the former Mackinac County. It was named in Ireland after County Clare.
In 1871, its own administration for the Clare County was established.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Clare County 30 926 people in 13,145 households. The population density was 21.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 13,145 households lived statistically 2.34 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 96.8 percent white, 0.5 percent African American, 0.7 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.4 percent were descended from two or more races.
