Ottawa County (Michigan)

Ottawa County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Grand Haven.

Geography

The County is located in the central south-west of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, on the west by Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​4227 square kilometers, of which 2762 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Muskegon County, Kent County, and Allegan County.

History

Ottawa County was formed in 1831 from parts of Mackinac County and free territory. It was named after the indigenous people of Ottawa.
