Washtenaw County, Michigan
Washtenaw County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ann Arbor.

The County is located in the southeast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is located in the south about 45 miles from Ohio and has an area of 1871 square kilometers, of which 33 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Washtenaw County was formed on December 31, 1826 from parts of Oakland County and Wayne County. It was named after the Native American expression O -wash -ten- nong.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Washtenaw County 322 895 people in 125 327 households and 73 692 families. The population density was 176 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 77.40 percent White, 12.29 percent Black or African American, 0.36 percent Native American, 6.30 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.04 percent from other races groups; 2.57 percent were descended from two or more races. 2.74 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 125 327 households out of which 29.2 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 46.4 percent were married couples living together, 9.3 percent were single mothers and 41.2 percent were non-families. 29.5 percent of all households and 5.9 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size is 3.02 people.
22.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 17.1 percent of 18 to 24 years 32.1 percent between 25 and 44, 20.6 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 8.1 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 97.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 51,990, and the median income for a family $ 70,393. Males have a median income of $ 49,304, women $ 33,598. The per capita income was $ 27,173. 5.1 percent of families and 11.1 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
