Oakland County, Michigan

The Oakland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Pontiac.

The Oakland County is part of Metro Detroit, the metropolitan region around the city of Detroit.

The Oakland County is one of the wealthiest regions in the U.S. and has a center of the technology industry, which is unofficially named Automation Alley. Geography

The area of the county is 2532 km ²; of which 92 km ² water. The southern border of the county is formed by the Eight Mile Road, which is the northern border of Detroit ( in Wayne County Airport ). This can be viewed as an unofficial dividing line between the predominantly black city and the predominantly white suburbs. In recent years this pattern of de facto racial segregation has declined slightly, moved than blacks increasingly to the north.

History

The limits to be established for the Oakland County were established in 1819, having been established in the following year. The name of Oakland County refers to the large stocks of oak trees in the area of the county.
