William E. Tou Velle

William Ellsworth Tou Velle ( born November 23, 1862 in Celina, Ohio; † August 14, 1951 ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1911 he represented the state of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Tou Velle attended the public schools of his home and then to 1879 the Celina High School. Between 1885 and 1888 he was postmaster in his hometown of Celina. After studying law at the Cincinnati Law School and was admitted as a lawyer his 1889 he began in Celina to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1906 Tou Velle in the fourth electoral district of Ohio was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Harvey C. Garber on March 4, 1907. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1911 two legislative sessions. In 1910 he gave up another candidacy. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Tou Velle again practiced as a lawyer. He was also president of the First National Bank of Celina. He died on August 14, 1951 in Celina.
