Ford County (Kansas)

Ford County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dodge City.

Geography

The County is located in the central southwestern Kansas, is located in the south about 55 miles from Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2847 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hodgeman County, Edwards County, Kiowa County, Clark County, Meade County and Gray County.

History

Ford County was formed on March 6, 1873 from parts of Marion County and the free territory. It was named after James H. Ford, an officer in the American Civil War.
