Franklin County (Kansas)
The Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. In the census in 2010, the County had 25,992 inhabitants and a population density of 17.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ottawa.
The Franklin County is part of the metropolitan area of Kansas City.
Geography
The County is located in Eastern Kansas, is about 40 miles from Missouri away and has an area of 1,494 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Franklin County was formed on 30 August 1855 as original County and is one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), one of the founding fathers of the United States.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Franklin County 25,992 people in 10,244 households. The population density was 17.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 93.7 percent white, 1.3 percent African American, 0.8 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 3.6 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
In the 10,244 households lived statistically 2.51 per person.
25.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 61.6 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.9 percent were 65 years or older. 49.9 percent of the population was female.
