Harvey County, Kansas

Harvey County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Newton.

Geography

The County is located just southeast of the geographic center of Kansas and has an area of ​​1400 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Marion County, Butler County, Sedgwick County, Reno County and McPherson County.

History

Harvey County was formed on February 29, 1872 from parts of Marion County, McPherson County and Sedgwick County. It was named after James M. Harvey, an American politician and governor of Kansas.
