Gove County, Kansas

Gove County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Gove City. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern Kansas and has an area of ​​2775 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Sheridan County, Graham County, Trego County, Ness County, Scott County, Logan County and Thomas County.

History

Gove County was formed on 2 March 1868 as original county of free territory. It was named after Grenville L. Gove, an officer in the American Civil War.
