Montgomery County (Kansas)

Geography

The County is located in southeast Kansas, in the south as Oklahoma, is in the east about 80 miles from Missouri and has an area of 1687 square kilometers, of which 16 square kilometers are water surface. History

Montgomery County was formed on 26 February 1867. It was named after Richard Montgomery, an Irish- American major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, which in the attempted capture of Quebec City in Canada, died in 1775 after two forts and the city of Montreal has already been taken.
