Russell County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Russell.

Geography

The County is located just north-west of the geographic center of Kansas and has an area of ​​2328 square kilometers, of which 37 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Osborne County, Lincoln County, Ellsworth County, Barton County, Rush County and Ellis County.

History

Russell County was formed on 26 February 1867. It was named for Alva P. Russell, an officer in the American Civil War.
