Paul Gillmor

Paul Eugene Gillmor ( born 1 February 1939 in Tiffin, Ohio; † 4th or 5th September, 2007 Washington DC ) was an American politician of the Republican Party, which from 1989 until his death as a deputy of the fifth district Ohio House of Representatives of the United States worked. It is the second largest district of Ohio.

Gillmor grew up in Old Fort, Ohio, where his father owned a transportation company. He went to the Old Fort High School and finished this 1957. 1961 he received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University (Delaware, Ohio) and 1964 his diploma from the University of Michigan ( Ann Arbor ). 1965/66 he was in the U.S. Air Force as a Judge Advocate with the rank of Captain. He then worked as a lawyer.

In 2006, his fortune from the Old Fort Bank, a local bank owned by Gillmor and his relatives, was given with 6.2 to 27.8 million U.S. dollars. He was thus at 43rd in the ranking of the richest members of Congress of the United States.

Gillmor has held numerous political offices, including he belonged from 1967 to 1988 the Senate of Ohio. He was there leader of the Republicans from 1978 to 1980 from 1983 until 1984. After the Republicans had won the majority in Ohio, he was from 1981 to 1982 and again from 1985 to 1988 president of the Ohio Senate. In 1986, he lost the race for the Republican nomination for governor in the primary against James A. Rhodes. In 1988, he was first elected to Congress.

Paul Gillmors body was found on September 5 by employees in his apartment in Washington, after he had not shown up for work. The cause of death was the discovery of the corpse unclear, it was a heart attack suspected.
