William Edwin Minshall, Jr.

William Edwin Minshall ( born October 24, 1911 in East Cleveland, Ohio, † 15 October 1990 in Delray Beach, Florida ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. From 1955 to 1974 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 23th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

In East Cleveland William Edwin Minshall was born. There he attended the public schools. In Shaker Heights, he attended the University School. At the University of Virginia and Cleveland State University, where he studied law. In 1940 he received his degree, was admitted to the bar and opened a law firm in Cleveland. In the years 1939 and 1940 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Ohio. In December 1940 he joined the U.S. Army. There he served until 1946, when he was discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was awarded during his military service, the Bronze Star.

In the elections for the House of Representatives in 1954 Minshall was elected to represent the 23rd District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he represented the 23th District until 1974.

After retiring from Congress to Minshall moved to Delray Beach back in Florida. He died there in 1990 at the age of 79 years.
