Hoke County, North Carolina

Hoke County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Raeford, named after its two founders MacRae and Williford.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of North Carolina, which is 40 km away from South Carolina and has an area of 1016 km ², of which 3 km ² water surface are. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Moore County, Cumberland County, Robeson County and Scotland County.

Hoke County is divided into eight townships: Allendale, Antioch, Blue Springs, Fort Bragg Military Reservation, McLauchlin, Raeford, Quewhiffle and Stonewall.

History

Hoke County was formed in 1911 from parts of Cumberland County and Robeson County. It was named after Robert Hoke, a major general in the Confederate during the American Civil War.
