Catawba County, North Carolina

Catawba County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Newton, which was named after Isaac Newton Wilson.

Geography

The County is located in west-central North Carolina, is located in the south about 75 miles from South Carolina and has an area of ​​1071 square kilometers, of which 35 square kilometers are water surface. History

Catawba County was formed in 1842 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after the Catawba Indians. The area was inhabited primarily by German immigrants who came in 1740 from Pennsylvania in this area.
