Graham County (North Carolina)

Graham County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Robbinsville.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme western North Carolina, adjacent to Tennessee, is located in the south about 40 km from Georgia and has an area of 781 square kilometers, of which 25 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Swain County, Macon County and Cherokee County.

Graham County is divided into three townships: Cheoah, Stecoah and Yellow Creek.

History

Graham County was formed in 1872 from parts of Cherokee County. It was named after William A. Graham, a Governor and U.S. Senator.
