Rowan County (North Carolina)

Rowan County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Salisbury.

Geography

The County is located in west-central North Carolina, is located in the southwest about 60 miles from South Carolina and has an area of ​​1357 square kilometers, of which 32 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Davie County, Davidson County, Stanly County, Cabarrus County and Iredell County.

History

Rowan County was formed on March 27, 1753 from parts of Anson County. It was named for Matthew Rowan, a political leader and governor of North Carolina from 1753 to 1754.
