Brad Sherman

Bradley J. "Brad" Sherman ( born October 24, 1954 in Los Angeles, California) is an American politician. Since 1997 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Brad Sherman attended Mark Kepple High School in Alhambra and the Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach. Then he studied until 1974, the University of California in Los Angeles. After studying law at Harvard University and his 1979 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. He was also sworn accountant and worked in that capacity for some companies. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1990 and 1995 he was a member of the California fiscal equalization Commission; Since 1991 he was chairman of this committee.

In the congressional elections of 1996, Sherman was in the 24th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Anthony C. Beilenson on 3 January 1997. After previous seven elections he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. Since 2003 he represents as the successor of Adam Schiff 27th district of his state. In his time as a congressman of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. Sherman is a member of the Finance Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee and four subcommittees.

He is married and lives in Sherman Oaks.

Foreign Political Engagement

As a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives Brad Sherman has taken position on many foreign policy issues:

In August 2010, Sherman introduced a bill that aimed to put China's status as the Most Favoured Nation overridden as long as it is not " nearly level playing field between our two nations " would be.

Sherman is a strong advocate of the US- Israeli relations and has always supported aid to Israel. In 2004 he introduced the first U.S. Israel Energy Cooperation Act (US- Israeli Energy Cooperation Act). It approves funds for joint ventures between U.S. and Israeli academics and private companies, which operate research and develop energy- efficient technologies for renewable energy.

As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sherman has advocated that the Congress recognizes the genocide of the Armenians, as well as expanding the financial assistance to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

In a letter to Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for Justice and Fundamental Rights, and to Klaus -Heiner Lehne, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the EU Parliament, Sherman urged the EU authorities and Malta to press ahead with the investigation in the matter Rakhat Aliyev. The Kazakh ex- ambassadors will, inter alia, the murder of two Kazakh bankers, money laundering, bribery and blackmail accused. "I can not say whether the allegations are true, but as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, I believe that these serious allegations need to be fully investigated ," Sherman explains in his letter.
