Schönhausen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Schönhausen is a municipality in the eastern part of the district of Mecklenburg Lake District in southeastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Woldegk based in the same city.

Geography

The community Schönhausen located about 30 km east of Neubrandenburg and eight kilometers northwest of Strasburg (Uckermark) on a small lake and close to up to 153 m high mountains Brohm. In the east, the municipality borders the district Vorpommern - Greifswald.

History

Located on a peninsula of Lake Schönhauser was until the early 17th century a castle, which should protect the border with Brandenburg. On the remains of the castle, the manor house was later built.

Traffic

Federal highway 104 runs south of the community. Through it leads the federal highway 20, which cover approximately two kilometers away junction Strasburg (Uckermark) is achievable.
