Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami

Located in the USA Miami Archdiocese (Latin: Archidioecesis Miamensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Miami, Florida. It was separated from the Diocese of Saint Augustine on 25 May 1958, and was then under the Archdiocese of Baltimore, suffragan. On February 10, 1962, was assigned as suffragan of the ecclesiastical province Atlanta.

On March 2, 1968 areas were separated for re-establishment of bishoprics Orlando and Saint Petersburg and Miami raised to an archbishopric with Metropolitan seat of the territory of the Diocese of Miami. On June 16, 1984 further areas for the establishment of bishoprics Palm Beach and Venice were separated, which in turn were subordinate to him as suffragans.

The Archdiocese comprises the territories Broward County, Miami -Dade County and Monroe County. It supports several private schools, including St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.
