The Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon (lat.: Archidioecesis Portlandensis in Oregon ) is a located in the United States Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Portland, Oregon

History

The Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon was posted on December 1, 1843 by Pope Gregory XVI. out of territory of the Diocese of Saint Louis built as Apostolic Vicariate of Oregon. On July 24, 1846 Apostolic Vicariate of Oregon were from parts of its territory to the founding of the dioceses Iceland Vancouver and Walla Walla.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Oregon was founded on July 24, 1846 by Pope Pius IX. raised to the bishopric and renamed diocese Oregon City. On July 29, 1850 Diocese of Oregon City was by Pius IX. raised to an archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Oregon City, on 3 March 1868 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of Idaho and Montana. A further transfer of territory took place on June 19, 1903 establishing the bishopric of Baker City. On September 26, 1928, the Archdiocese of Oregon City was renamed the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon.
