Kargow

Kargow is a municipality in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is goods with headquarters in the city goods managed by the Office Lakelands (Müritz).

Geography

The municipality Kargows in the heart of the lake district lies largely in the Müritz National Park. History

Burial mounds from the Bronze Age suggest an early settlement in the area northeast of the Müritz. Originally by Slavs populated localities Kargow and Federow existed since the 13th century.

In addition to the dominant traditional agriculture of the National Park tourism is increasingly shaping the image of the places in the community Kargow. In 1998, the National Park Information building was opened in the district Federow.

Flag

The flag of the municipality Kargow is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the bunting of blue, striped gold (money), and blue. Station Kargow

  • Power line pole with an eagle's nest - between the hamlets Federow and Schwarzenhof. An installed at the nest camera allows observation in the national park information building in Federow.
  • Käflingsbergturm near the hamlet of bacon. The observation deck of the 55 meter high tower is about 70 meters above the level of about five kilometers away Müritz.
  • Specker hunting lodge (private property). Today, established by the United Leipzig publisher Kurt Herrmann in 1937 building is in a poor condition and can not be visited.

Infrastructure

Country roads connect the villages together (the southern district of bacon is about twelve kilometers from the village Kargow ). The Kargow station is on the railway line from Berlin to Rostock ( Lloyd train ), but keep it there as a result of the expansion of distance since September 2011, no more passenger trains.
