Mike DeWine

Richard Michael " Mike" DeWine ( born January 5, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party, who represented the state of Ohio in both chambers of Congress.

DeWine studied at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1969. He then attended the College of Law at Ohio Northern University, where he received the Juris Doctor 1972. In the same year he was admitted to the Bar of Ohio and practiced in Xenia. 1981-1982 DeWine sat in the Senate of Ohio.

When he was selected for the Republicans in the Congress, he moved to the U.S. House of Representatives and represented there, from 3 January 1983 to January 3, 1991 his home state. His next political office was that of Lieutenant Governor of Ohio. After his election in selbiges he held the office from 14 January 1991 for four years until 1995; he was so representative of Governor George Voinovich. 1994 DeWine was elected to the Senate of the United States. After 2007 he worked as a senator in 1995, he was replaced by Democrat Sherrod Brown. He had previously beaten him on November 7, 2006 at the Senate elections.

In November 2010, DeWine managed a political comeback. He ran for Attorney General of the State of Ohio, defeating the Democratic incumbent Richard Cordray with 48:46 percent of the vote, and he could take his new post from January 10, 2011.

With his wife, Frances, he has eight children, of whom one died in 1993 due to a car accident.
