Burleigh-Head-Nationalpark

The Burleigh Head National Park (English: Burleigh Head National Park ) is a small National Park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland.

Location

It is located 81 kilometers south-east of Brisbane on the Gold Coast. Despite its small size of only 27.6 hectares, it contains a large number of different habitats. The Tallebudgera Creek flows directly into the sea south of the park.

Terrain

The promontory plunges steeply towards the sea. The formation of the Cape of Burleigh began 23-25 ​​million years ago. At that time the Tweed volcano was still active. The basaltic lava flowed down the volcano all the valleys and scraped it out. The valleys above the Cape of Burleigh were completely covered with hardened sedimentary rocks. Flora

In the park there are the remains of rain and mangrove forest. The camping is prohibited in the park. The national park is popular with walkers and joggers, because it lies in a relatively cool - temperate climate and offers great views of the sea. There are two trails: The Ocean View Circuit leads to the top of the 88 m high hill. The Rainforest Circuit leads around almost at sea level around the Cape. From the park you can also watch whales on their migration.

Driveway

The National Park can be reached via the Gold Coast Highway on the south and west side of the park. There is also a visitor center.
