Cape-Upstart-Nationalpark
The Cape Upstart National Park (English: Cape Upstart National Park ) is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland.
The Juru Clan of the Birri - Gubba the Aboriginesstammes lived for thousands of years on Cape Upstart.
Location
It is located 1016 km northwest of Brisbane, 60 kilometers west- north-west of Bowen and kilometers east- south-east of Ayr.
Landforms and vegetation
Cape Upstart is constructed from granite cape. It is covered with a dense rainforest. On the coasts there are heaths and sandy beaches.
Culture
In the sand dunes there are many Køkkenmøddinger from which you can see the connection of the Juru Clan to Cape Upstart. There are also sacred sites there, such as the women's field in the ' Worrungo Bay '' and stone arrangements in Mime Iceland, which, as the elders always emphasized, never fish traps, but an important ceremony area for initiation rites were .. The ceremony area was off of the Gubulla Munda (diamond Python) used ways as this created the mainland and the islands that were inhabited by the Juru. Ownership
2011 saw the Federal Court of Australia to Juru to the right of ownership on Cape Upstart National Park. This court victory reached the Juru is a 20 -year-old fight for their property rights. The process was initiated in 1992 by Peter Prior ( Gulamba ) and 2012 of his daughter, Renarta Prior ( Gootha ) completed.
