Brampton-Islands-Nationalpark

The Brampton Islands National Park (English: Brampton Islands National Park ) is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland. It is located 834 km north-west of Brisbane and 35 km north of Mackay. It covers the major part of Brampton Iceland and the entire surface of the adjacent Carlisle Iceland. The park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Great Barrier Reef.

In the environment, the National Park South Cumberland Islands, Newry Islands, Yuwi Paree Toolkoon and Smith Islands lie.

Attractions and facilities

In the park you will find rain forests, sandy beaches and coral reefs. There are hiking trails around the highest point of Brampton Iceland and around the island. The 8.7 km long trail leads visitors through a sparse eucalypt forest, wet and dry rainforest, grassland and mangrove forests.

Camping is allowed on Carlisle Iceland, where such facilities are maintained. From October to May can be found in the sea around the islands of box jellyfish.
