Mount-Chinghee-Nationalpark

The mount Chinghee National Park (English: Mount Chinghee National Park ) is a national park in the extreme southeast of the Australian state of Queensland. It is located 93 kilometers south of Brisbane, on the border with New South Wales.

Provincial nature

The mount Chinghee National Park closes west to Mount Barney, located east of the Lamington and south to, in neighboring New South Wales, Border Ranges National Park. The Mount Chinghee is an ancient shield volcano, with more than 700 meters the highest point of the park.

Flora and Fauna

The rainforests of the park belong to the Gondwana rainforests, which were registered in 1986 as a World Heritage Site and included in the list Australian Natural Heritage 2007.

The area is also part of Scenic Rim Important Bird Area, which was designated by BirdLife International because of its importance for the conservation of several endangered bird species.

Facilities and access

The tents in the park is not permitted. The next tent sites are located south and west of the park on Running Creek.

The mount Chinghee National Park can be reached on the Mount Lindesay Highway. In Innisplain (21 kilometers south of Beaudesert ) turn east onto Running Creek Road and follow it about 20 kilometers to the south almost to the state line.
