Sir-Charles-Hardy-Group-Nationalpark

The Sir Charles Hardy Group National Park (English Sir Charles Hardy Group National Park ) is a 131 -acre national park in Queensland, Australia. It consists of two rocky islands and is a UNESCO World Heritage Great Barrier Reef. Named the park is Charles Hardy, a British fleet admiral.

Location

The National Park is located 610 kilometers north of Cairns and 165 kilometers southwest of Cape York on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula. The islands lie about 25 miles off Cape Grenville, a headland between Shelbourne and Temple Bay, the Coral Sea.

In the vicinity the National Parks Saunders Islands, Iceland Raine, Piper Islands and Iceland are Wuthara.

Provincial nature

The National Park consists of two small rocky islands. Both of which are approximately the same size, approximately circular and have a diameter of about one kilometer. The highest point is 72 meters above the sea level.

Flora and Fauna

The vegetation consists mainly of grassland with small patches of shrubbery. Along the coast there are some bays with sandy beaches and pockets with mangrove forest.

From the man almost untouched, the islands offer numerous animals both habitat and breeding opportunities, including the endangered soot oystercatchers (Haematopus fuliginosus ), Little Tern ( Sternula albifrons ) and Rifftriele ( Esacus giganteus).

On the other hand are particularly frequently the Eilseeschwalbe ( Thalasseus bergii ), copper neck dove ( Geopelia humeralis ) and black-necked Tern ( Sterna sumatrana ).

The only reptile that has been spotted on the island is the Coastal tree skink ( Cryptoblepharus litoralis ).
